I made a commitment to increase my python skills to a more proficient level. I can muddle my way through most things but I'm too slow. I decided to go with codecademy.com. Others have given high praise and the first few weeks of August are free. They also have version 3 available which was a requirement for me.
So far I really like how the course is laid out. Let's face it, most of us really don't love learning syntax but it is something that is required if you want to take your skill to the next level. The course is laid out in a split screen with text on the left, an IDE interface in the middle (which is actually pretty good) and an output screen to the far right.

The lessons are very clear and well written and every section has hands on coding to actually implement what you have learned. At the end of every lesson there are questions to test your understanding of the material.
There is an active community, ways to get yourself "unstuck" and even projects that you can take on to really step things up. So far I am very pleased with codecademy.com.
